Hollis Brown


Home Inspector License CourseAs seen on the HGTV program "Location, Location, Location," Hollis Brown is a 25-year veteran of the Washington, DC metropolitan area home building industry, with experience in construction management and design/build remodeling. His construction background extends back to the late 1960s. He attended Indiana State University in the early 1970s before opening his construction business. Hollis has fifteen years of experience as a carpentry subcontractor followed by another ten years in general contracting. Hollis Knows Homes! He has performed over 6,000 home inspections since 1997 and currently owns two companies. As the owner and operator of the Home Inspector Training Academy, Hollis has trained thousands of home inspectors both locally and nationwide.

ASHI Cox Award For his many contributions to the profession, Hollis was presented with the prestigious John E. Cox Award by the American Society of Home Inspectors in 2023.

Speaker, ASHI Council of Representitives Hollis served a term as the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) from January 2017 through January 2019.

MAC-ASHI President Hollis served as the president of the Mid-Atlantic chapter of ASHI from July 2015 to June 2016.

ASHI Conference 2008 The American Society of Home Inspectors hosted its annual conference, InspectionWorld, January 16 - 19 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Hollis covered the topic of Web development and search engine optimization; and offered information about some basic useful tools and strategies to help inspectors take advantage of internet marketing.

Hollis Quoted on Front Page of Washington Times (April 7, 2005) Hollis was interviewed by Andrew Johnson of the Washington Times for an article about the current status of the Washington, DC area housing market. The article appeared on the front page of Thursday's paper.

HITA Returns to the Dakotas The US Bureau of Indian Affairs asked Hollis to present HITA's third 2-week South Dakota State Prelicensing class in Bismark, North Dakota on May 16 - 27.

Another successful ASHI Conference The American Society of Home Inspectors hosted its annual conference, InspectionWorld, January 13 - 15 in Austin, Texas. Hollis gave a well received 3-hour talk on furnaces & boilers.

Hollis to Speak in Austin Hollis returned to InspectionWorld - this time with his three hour talk, Controlling the Indoor Winter Air - Furnaces & Boilers.

HITA schedules w/ FL-ASHI (June 30, 2004) The Florida Chapter of ASHI just accepted Hollis' proposal to return to Octoberspect with his two-day Back-to-Basics course.
